Fashion For Life Preview: Renae Purple By Ashli Designs

Every year a very important event happens, one that benefits the Relay For Life charity. If you’ve never heard of it before, it’s called Fashion For Life and this year the event spans 10 sims and there are items for sale which donate a portion or the total profits to help support cancer research. The gown I am wearing in this photo is the Renae Purple gown by Ashli Designs, which is one of the items specifically for this fair.

The Essence of Formal

I don’t wear many formal dresses – I never get invited anywhere were I would need one! However, sometimes I do like to play dress-up for myself and put on a pretty frock. Just the other day Sascha’s Designs came out with this new gown called Essence, and when I saw the collar on it, I knew I would have to try it on and go for a walk-a-bout.

I’m not sure how to describe it exactly, classic meets modern, meets fantasy? In any case, I enjoy a strong statement in my look and this certainly delivers it.

FFL Preview: Nicky Ree and Alienbear

I’ve got 2 more items to show you before the Fashion For Life event officially opens tomorrow March 12, 2011. The event covers 9 sims so there is so much to see, and in this case the items were meant to be paired together and they compliment each other wonderfully.

The gown is by Nicky Ree and is called the Tricia Lace Gowns in Pinks, it comes with 6 prim pieces which make up 3 styles of skirt. I wore the big ballroom option, but there is a less poofy version and then a 4-piece option that gives you a mermaid style with a long train. I feel like a shimmering, glimmering, princess in this gown – and the pink is so me! There are 3 other donation items at Nicky Ree, so even if this isn’t your thing, stop by the booth at the fair as of tomorrow!

My earrings and necklace are both by Alienbear Designs and are part of 3 items for the FFL fair, a line called Queen Margaret (the third item is a matching ring). All the items are sold separately so you can get what suits you best. I also liked that the necklace is in two parts, with the chain and main pendant as one piece, and the 4 smaller pendants as another. It makes it more versatile for styling or if you want to wear fewer prims. Check out the amazing prim work at the Alienbear Designs booth as of tomorrow!

FFL Preview: LeeZu!

I am so excited to show off this LeeZu gown that will be making it’s big appearance at the Fashion For Life event which begins on Saturday March 12, 2011 and runs until March 22, 2011. All funds raised will go to the SL Relay For Life and will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Mon Insu Gown is a stunning creation from LeeZu, their gowns have always been my most favorite creations and this is no exception! Not only do you get the gown, but it comes with the gloves (including sculpted attachments) and the fantastic hat! The purple-ish pink accent color suits this especially well because purple has typically been the color for the Relay For Life in both Second Life© and real life. Want to see more? All Dressed Up and No Place To Go

I was supposed to be a guest host at today’s GLANCE Fashion Awards (as I previously blogged) but due to sim overload, the event was rescheduled to next Sunday, February 27. 2011 at 1PM SLT. I’m sure I’ll wear the same outfit next weekend, so in case I don’t, I wanted to let it have some use. I love this Tania gown I got at AZUL for the occasion, we’ll see if it gets pulled out again next weekend!

Anti-Valentine Has A Place In My Heart

Some people are crazy for Valentine’s Day, but I’m not. Even though I’ve had a Valentine pretty much every year since high school, I find the whole thing overrated (although yes to chocolate)! With this whole anti-Valentine spirit in mind, CHIC Limited will open it’s doors again tomorrow February 12, 2011 to the public and offer the public items that aren’t your typical Valentine’s fare.

The ensemble I am wearing including headpiece, dress, makeup and stockings is by Miamai. Yes, those are hearts stabbed with pins and bears on the back of my train…bears with vampire teeth! The aptly named outfit is called HeartBreaker and I totally feel like once in it – a cross between Lady Gaga and Elvira.

My boots are a blood-splattered version of the GTFO boot by Gos, called Savage. And when you’re breaking hearts, sucking blood, and stomping fiercely down the street like nothing happened, you need a pair of sensible flat shoes. It’s just common sense!

I also used poses available at the event from Di’s Opera called the Fatale Series. She has a set of 8 poses that come with smoking and smoke-less cigarettes, and packs to complete the look. In the movies, the femme fatale is usually seen smoking, so it’s a great tribute to that. Just remember kids, smoking in SL is okay but totally unhealthy in real life ( /ends public service announcement).

IFW10 Exclusive Milena Gown by MIAMAI

Yes, I have another IFW10 exclusive design to show you all, this time from MIAMAI by monica Outlander. This is the Milena gown and it comes in 6 colors including the rose version I have on here. It comes with the full skirt and a ruffle for the bodice which I think is really pretty and flattering for those with a small bust like myself. MIAMAI will have a runway show today, Saturday July 17 at 3:00 PM SLT. If you’d like to catch the show, just teleport to the IFW10 sim and make sure to get there a bit early to get a good seat!

Evangeline Gown Release and Promotion

Established brand Seldom Blue by IndigoBlue Dagostino is once again releasing a beautiful gown onto the grid today – Evangeline. It’s described as “exquisite and totally indulgent, with a gorgeous soft textured top bodice with a high amount of detailing. The system skirt is asymetrical, very short and will skim your thighs with a delicious transparency. The short prim skirt is full of frill and vibrancy and is perfect for parties. We have also created not one but two incredibly beautiful long formal skirts, the first with a delicate lace pattern on the upper layer, and the second skirt comprises of multiple simple layers of silk. Both are finished with a bow at the back, and this is all accented with beautiful soft prim frills, one on each shoulder, and also at the waist.” The first picture shows the short prim skirt, perfect for hitting your favorite dance spot.

This second picture shows the waist ruffles and the full formal skirt in lace. What I like about this line is that the ruffles aren’t the same color as the dress, sometimes they’re in a darker shade but they don’t match 100% and that makes it more visually interesting. It comes in 7 colors, you can buy the fatpack with all the options for L$ 750, or you can buy one version for L$ 375.

And to motivate you to check out the new release, the store is offering this version of the Evangeline gown in a gold bandage style with sheer parted skirt for L$ 100. You can also pick up the matching butterfly and feather headpiece by Singsong Writer of Eternity Jewels by Seldom Blue for $1L! I’m loving it, and still wearing it…I may not take it off.

Actually it works quite well with this hair from Exile by Kavar Cleanslate. It’s called Amelia and was released a few days ago. The hair is sold in color packs of 6 for L$ 225, or the pack of all 30 colors for L$ 1000.

Flamenco in My Heart

Dancing begins in the heart and soul, and even though I’m miles away from Spain, a little dance has sprung up inside me and I thought I would dress up for the occasion. Could there be anything more extravagant and striking than the Isis Andaluz dress from Nardcotix? Nardya Rousselot did an exceptional job on this, I truly feel like I could dance the night away to some intoxicating flamenco music in this. The dress comes on all layers and includes system skirt, decorative bodice ruffles, 3 part prim skirt, and the headpiece. This is one of the more expensive outfits I’ve shown on here for L$ 840, but it can be worn several ways and you can easily fit the prim parts (thank goodness).

The sexy red heels are also from Nardcotix and are called the Rebekah pumps. Currently available in 20 colors, each one comes with a pair with a colored heel and then one pair with a black heel, except for the black pair which comes with a grey sole version. Each color pack costs L$ 500, while the fatpack sells for L$ 8000. Everyone needs a few pairs of classic heels, so these are a good option since you’re able to wear the color you like, in more than one way.

Let Me Tempt You With This

I don’t often have a chance to wear formal dresses in real life, so I live out my inner glamazon in my second life. This means I am always happy to throw on a fancy frock, especially if it comes with tons of wearable options which allow me to have different looks depending on my mood.

One of my most recent “dealers” in party dresses and gowns is Sascha Frangilli of Sascha’s Designs. Her latest, and last release for the year of 2009, is the Temptation gown which I am wearing in turquoise. It is the biggest and most complete outfit she has released to date with so many options, my head nearly spun when I opened the box!
