Every year, as a part of Hair Fair, there is a day where we shed our hair and wear bandanas in support of those who have lost their hair due to illness or treatments – this year it’s July 28, 2013. Anyone can make a bandana and have it put up for sale along with those done by designers! The kits are provided for free, and each bandana is sold for L$ 50 (with transfer permissions, so you can gift them). This year the base bandanas are mesh and were created by Mel Vanbeeck with easy retexturing in mind – the UV’s were made with a square in mind. If you’d like a kit, please contact Sasy Scarborough in-world.

Please note: since these bandanas will be set for sale, you need to have full perm items for decorating, as they cannot be sold otherwise. Completed bandanas need to be sent to CharitySasy String by July 3, 2013 so that they have plenty of time to be bought.

The Hair Fair is sneaking up on us all quickly, and the Hair Fair Photo Contest is already open! Here’s the rules for the contest:

1. This years theme is “Movies Inspire Me” be as creative as you like, feel free to include other people in your shots.
However, as in previous years, ONLY THE PERSON ENTERING THE PHOTOGRAPH IS ELIGIBLE TO WIN. This years contest will run from the 7th June – 28th June 2013

Examples : Sci-fi, Black & White, Romantic Comedy, Anime, Horror, Country & Western, Thriller, Action, Drama

*No Nudity or sexually suggestive images, this is a charity event to raise money for Children, naked/revealing pictures and pictures that the committee deem inappropriate will not be accepted, the committee’s say on this is final.

Be creative, but remember we are looking for pictures that focus on the hair and you. PHOTOS SUBMITTED TO THIS POOL MUST HAVE BEEN UPLOADED SINCE THE START OF THE CONTEST, PHOTOS OLDER THAN THE START WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, we want fresh focus and definite passion for this event, and this event only.

2. Feel free to enhance your shot in the photo editing program of choice. We don’t want to see vendor images here or store logos in the background for example. Just remember this isn’t an advertisement but a tribute to hair that you love.Also be aware that we wont be judging your photos on how little or much you know of PS or GIMP, rather the feel of the picture and the capture itself.That being said, please do not “over process”, we want to be able see the hair! – if you must put your name on your images please be sure to make it small and discreet in the bottom left or right of the photo…anything business focused will not be accepted, names of avatar only.

3. Keep your photos in Second Life size format. Second Life will distort your images when uploaded into SL, and we do not want to have your images look all out of focus in the winners circle if picked.

4. Photos may only be entered once, and only the person entering the photo is eligible to win. The same photo may not be entered by more than one person. You must have full ownership rights to the photo you are entering. If it was taken by someone else, then you must be allowed to use it in this manner. Check with the photographer before entering because any disputes of ownership of a photo will result in disqualification.

5. Entrants are limited to a total of 8 entries. Enter only your very best photos, as swapping out will not be allowed. We will be keeping track of who enters what, and swapping out your photos after submission will result in your disqualification. We want to make it fair to everyone.

6. In the description of each photo you enter, please include:
* Your Second Life avatar name ( no display names, if your last name is Resident please include that )
* Model/s
* Photographer
* Hair Style Name and Store ( the store does not have to be in Hair Fair 2013 )
* Inspiration Movie ?

7. All photos must be entered by Midnight SLT on 28th June, at that time uploads will be disabled.

8. Winners will be announced just prior to the start of Hair Fair with all winners receiving a special VIP invitation to Hair Fair before it opens its doors to the public.
Winning photos will also be featured at Hair Fair.
First, Second and Third Prize winners will receive prizes from all stores listed, this is a HUGE prize pool.
Seven runners up will also be given early access to Hair Fair 2013, as well as having their photos on display at the event.

You may also showcase past designers who have left Second Life, designers just starting out, or even hair you or a friend made.

All photos will be moderated before being approved into the group pool, please be patient as we are all on different timezones, but the pool will be checked daily. If your photo does not appear after 24 hours, please check that all the rules have been followed..thank you

The judges decisions are final

Prizes cannot be exchanged, negotiated or sent to avatars other than the winners.

Hi everyone! I’ve been meaning to post for a little bit, but finally took some pics yesterday night so I could get this outfit out to you. It all started with this 2 piece dress from DCNY at the Gemini round of Zodiac. The tops and bottoms can be inter-changed if you buy more than one color, and of course you can wear them separately. The top would look cute with some denim shorts, and you could pair the skirt with a soft blouse.

I’m also wearing the adorable Darla Headband from Noodles which was a Fifty Linden Fridays item. However, you don’t have to miss out, you can still get it (or 5 other color versions) in the store for a little bit more. Don’t I look precious in it? I’m not taking it off, no way, no how!

I don’t often wear greens, so I decided to depart from my normal choice of pinks and purples, to show another side of me in aqua and chartreuse. The weather hasn’t been so great, so my windlight settings for today’s photo also reflects that.

A little while ago my alt got herself some mesh breasts, and when I saw the Belted Chevron dress from DCNY, I splurged and bought myself a pair. So here we go, my first post using mesh breasts! They take some adjusting, but I’ll be using them more as the weather gets warmer and I want to show some more skin. This dress comes in a variety of colors, with 2 belt options (black or brown), and then a belt-less version like I am wearing. I got some new items from E! Eclectic Apparel and Accessories today, and one of them was a cute new tank top with an Easter bunny. Since it’s just a couple days away I put together a casual version of an Easter outfit using it as the base. It’s the current VIP group gift, if you’re not a member of the store’s group, there is a group join board next to the gift. There is a L$ 400 join fee, but you get a gift every month so it’s totally worth it. I decided to also wear their new Kallie Pants in Navy, which has a subtle leather texture. The pants come in 10 colors so there’s plenty to chose from.

I added the Video Games hair by Truth to top it off, since it comes with a flower headband that reminds me of the headbands that little girls tend to wear with their Easter dresses. For L$ 100 you can take your chance at The Arcade and get a random color from the gacha machine. The headband is separate from the hair so you can wear it with other hair.

You are able to chose several types of eye make-up, lip tint, eyelashes, and blush by using a fairly simple HUD. In addition, you are able to wear your own eyes or mesh eyes that are included and worn separately, there is a HUD to control eye color and one for tears. The ears are another attachment so that you can remove them if your hairstyle covers the ears. There is a link to a manual on the Snow Rabbit Support blog, so you can thoroughly learn what each button does. You also can set if you blink, mouth opens, or does nothing. I think it’s a really fun way to have a make-over, while still remaining true to my sense of style because the face of Nea is just so darn CUTE! I tried to show a bit of what you can do with the head in the pictures. Each skin-tone has 2 versions – one has a more push-up cleavage, I wore both in the pictures so that you could see the difference…oh, and there is a shape included too, but it worked nicely with my normal shape.. Hopefully by now you are chomping at the bit to get your hands on this hybrid avatar, but here’s a bit more info.
