The Sweet Smell of Wet Leather

There is nothing like the smell of wet leather. Honestly, I can’t think of anything else like it – although it probably isn’t a great thing when it’s your favorite leather accessory or item of clothing. Anyway, I played with this look on and off all day today, building it around the newest leather dress in the chocolate color from Second Wave Apparel by Sioxie Legend. I normally don’t wear much leather except for on my feet or the occasional jacket so I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried this dress on and liked not only the look but also the overall versatility. I used it in a more casual way, but you could also throw on some sparkly things and really dress it up. I love the realistic texture which isn’t an “in your face” photo-sourced leather like you so often see. The dress is also available in red or black, and each one costs L$ 150, which I find incredibly reasonable for something you can wear over and over again!

With just about a week and a half until Halloween, I thought I better start getting in the mood with this post even though the traditional sentiment behind a wedding is very far from that of Halloween. At least, in most cases…I’ve heard of people getting married in cemeteries before so I thought it would be very seasonally appropriate to have a spookier setting (no offense to the dearly departed is intended).

A Seasonally Appropriate Wedding

I’m wearing the latest wedding dress called the Kira Bridal Gown from Eternity Brides by Seldom Blue which is being released to celebrate the opening of the new mini-store on the Eostara sim. The all over pattern reminds me of snowflakes or perhaps the North Star. With winter right around the corner, either is appropriate really; especially with the color of the detailing and the flouncy, romantic, style. For the price of L$ 1300 you get the top on all layers, glitch pants, system skirt, optional underwear style (for after the wedding, rawr!), prim skirt, optional prim train and prim veil. I should note that the veil attaches to the nose which is the most common attachment point for eyelashes, so you may need to edit one or the other if you intended to wear both. Worried about the price? Fear not! All Eternity Brides gowns have demos in the store so you know what you’re getting before making that very important purchase.

A Seasonally Appropriate Wedding

As always, there are a few special deals going on at this location as well (not the mainstore). The first is the Kira Bridal Lingerie set which differs from the one that transforms from the gown. The bra and panties can be worn alone, or with several versions of prim attachments for only L$ 100 and the stockings are included.

A Seasonally Appropriate Wedding

For all you bargain hunters, there is also a special dollarbie out – the Kira Tutu Dress. For L$ 1 you get the dress with it’s prim attachments in a sweet pink-purple with black and white accents. Maybe this will be the dress that leads you to finding Mr. Right?

If either of these special offers interests you, you better teleport over to the store as soon as possible as both are out for a limited time only – the Bridal Lingerie will be going up to full price shortly!

Rockin’ Renata

Rockin' Renata

Good morning everyone and happy Monday! I’ve got a new release from a well-established brand here to show you – Renata by Kunglers Couture. It was released in three colors: black, white and amber; with each coming with 3 wide belts in black, white and red. I don’t normally wear white dresses so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to wear something a bit out of the ordinary. I love the fun ruffles all over the dress and how the belt seems to reign it all in. It’s fun and flirty, sort of “refined lady” meets ” sexy vixen”. The greatest thing, in my opinion, is that all the prim parts have a resize script so that you can easily adjust them to your shape (or shapes) with a couple of clicks. Each dress is selling for L$ 399 and if you want to keep up to date on Kunglers’ releases they have a great in-world group (with L$ 50 join fee) and a snazzy blog.

Putting these posts together, I sometimes find things I totally forget I ever bought – like the Doris hair from Uncleweb Studio. How did I rediscover it? I did a search in my inventory for hair. Yep. I also sometimes find something great that I meant to post, then didn’t, then decided I’d stick here. Like the latest group gift skin from ATOMIC. If memory serves me correctly, there is a L$ 250 join fee for this group but there are gifts given out on a regular basis so it’s totally worth it.

That’s all for now folks, I’m still barely awake and have tons to do in the real world…have a great week!

How Lucky…

This past Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada, and it made me realize that even though there are many things in my “lives” that could be better, I do have many great things going on. I am incredibly lucky in many ways. I’ve always been able to land on my feet in hard times and have met some incredible people. Given this fierce attitude I was feeling I put together this little look from some great pieces recently released onto the grid.

How Lucky...

Many people have been talking about the new LeLutka Eclat skins, and I decided to demo almost all of them for myself. I like them! I love some of the makeup and I feel like they really suit me. My first favorite is this one with the thick, dark, cat-eye eyeliner and nude matte lips. So divine! And very Kalia.

This teeny little dress is called Petite by Luck Inc., and it sure is petite. It comes on all layers and with a pants option of with or without the garters, however those stockings don’t come with it, I added those. The dress comes in a multitude of colors and prints, with more to be expected in the near future, as well as sheer versions on the way. I guess I was feeling monochromatic or something at the time as I seemed to stick with a very black/gray look this time. Still, this hot number fit perfectly with my empowered outlook.

I’m also wearing part of a jewelry set called “Elolande’s Fairy Glass Jewelry” by Accessories by Eolande. Also included is a ring, but I’m not much of a ring person, nor would it really show up in the picture anyway.

howlucky2

Trapped inside the jewelry is a wee fairy, and the swirls behind her are actually animated – but of course could not be captured here. The glass part is scripted to color change to nine colors so you can pretty much match it to any of your outfits. I enjoyed mixing these more feminine, refined pieces, with the harder edge of the rest of my look.

Something I just learned about the store is that there is a HUD you can get that collects points every time you make a purchase from Eolande’s. These points can be used to buy special items that are only available for sale with the points, which is nice since it means that there will be fewer people probably wearing them and that makes it feel a bit more special.

Happy in Hucci

Happy in Hucci

I promised you more blogging, and you’re getting more blogging from me! This weekend was the two month anniversary of my feed, SL Chic Critique, which is why I’m about to gobble up a huge piece of cake.

But, I’m also really excited about some new things in my inventory…okay, somewhat new…I have a tendency of collecting things and not wearing them for some time. Case in point, the new Eclat skins from LeLutka and the Hucci Tortue Dress from House of Hucci. The skin is the latest group gift for the brand new line, and once I put it on, I haven’t taken it off. Check out the rest of the skins if you’re liking this one because it only gets better and better.

The dress is an unexpected find and I love how more and more stores are scripting their items so that customers can customize them to their heart’s content! This dress has scripted bangles and necklace which are attached to the cuffs and collar. You can change the metal to 7 different colors, as well as shiny, turn on glow or make them disappear all together. If green isn’t your thing then the dress comes in six other colors besides this gorgeous shade, so there is probably one to suit you. Best of all? There’s a demo in the store. Demos: they’re a good thing!

Black N' Brown, Baby.

I think a lot of times we’re under the assumption that certain colors don’t mix well. I always thought that mixing brown and black was sort of a “faux pas”…it just shouldn’t be done! However, I can admit when I’m wrong and I was wrong about this. I am loving brown this season and it is perfectly okay to mix it with black!

Wearing a darker shade than normal for me from Aimesi Skins, called Amely, the Sambuca tone perfectly compliments the brown denim RetroRomper from [Cynful]. The romper also comes with a white version of the top, the clothing on all layers, and prim bottoms if you chose a more casual look. I like glamming it up a bit, taking it to a sort of nightclub look. Have no fear if you like the style but this isn’t quite your look, Aimesi skins are available in every tone from gothic white to lush brown; and the romper is available in black, dark blue, light blue and red denims.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...

I seem to do posts from time to time about my favorite items of the moment and today is no exception. I recently discovered some of the most realistic and luscious boots in Second Life©, the Prestige boots by Bax Coen Designs. They are currently available in black, white, reds and browns. You can see the full line of boots on the official blog. The great thing is, because they are so customizable, you can easily co-ordinate them to all of your outfits.

It’s fall in my part of the world, and leaves have started to change color, it’s gotten quite cold, and the sky is dreary and bleak. Kalia gets to escape this, and has put together a fall outfit I wish I could wear in real life…but I’d probably freeze my bum off within minutes and run home crying. I picked up this dress today for L$ 5o at This is a Fawn, it was on special for Fifty Linden Fridays and even though I already had it in black, I couldn’t resist the deep green tone. If you want to get yourself one at this great price, then you need to hurry over before the sale ends at midnight tonight SLT. The dress matched beautifully with my new favorite skin, Skye by Pink Fuel. I picked it up at the Skin/Shape Expo which ends today and I’m not sure if they’ll be in the main store afterward. When it doubt, buy right away!

Check back over the weekend for more posts…it’s SL Chic Critique’s 2 month anniversary this weekend so I’m going to try to get several blogs in! (In case you didn’t know, that’s the fashion feed I co-own).

Sexy Seldom Blue at SXY2ND

IndigoBlue Dagostino of Seldom Blue alerted me to the fact that the SXY2ND sim has recently been taken over by new management and will not be closing. To celebrate this fact, her store location on that sim has 2 special offers which are only available at that satellite store – not the mainstore location.

I’m wearing the Evangeline gown which is currently on promotion for L$ 1oo, but don’t be fooled by this picture, you get more than this one variation, in fact you get everything you see in the ad below:

Sexy Seldom Blue at SXY2ND

That is at least 3 looks you can put together, more if you remove the frilly arm pieces. I was in a SXY mood today, so I chose to wear the more revealing version. However, I did match it with a more modest post courtesy of Glitterati, which is offering a set of 10 poses for free in honor of October being breast cancer awareness month (there’s also the option to make a donation to the cause). Pink is also the trademark color of breast cancer awareness, so it made perfect sense to pair the two.

But that’s not all folks! Oh no, if you know Seldom Blue, you know that they regularly offer great L$ 1 deals, and this is no exception. This time around you get the mini-dress version in a gorgeous blue shade as seen here:

Both promotional offers will only be available for a limited time, so make sure to run over as soon as possible to get yours!

And in case you’re interested, the SXY2ND sim is opening a new nightclub tomorrow (October 3, 2009) and I hear there will be lots of goodies from designers with shops located there, so go check it out and have a great weekend everyone!

Modavia Designer Wardrobe Giveaway!

I just heard about this and thought some of you might not know about it, so from the official press release:

“September 14, 2009 -  Modavia Fashion Marketing announced plans for the next Designer Wardrobe Giveaway to coincide with the Modavia Fashion Week event, September 10-17. The Giveaway is a regular monthly drawing that rewards one lucky subscriber to the Modavia Fashion Directory with a free designer wardrobe containing up to 45 couture outfits.

During the course of Fashion Week subscribers will be invited to visit Bryant Park, the venue for Modavia Fashion Week, and enter the drawing. Two winners will be announced immediately after the final show which will take place at 4pm on the 17th September. A total of 90 designs from 40 of the top couturiers in Second Life will be given away together with all the artwork contained in the last 2 editions of the Directory, that is, the 10th and 11th edition.

To avoid congestion on the sim winners will not be required to be present at the drawing but will be required to make themselves available for photographs within a week of the prize being awarded.  Anyone can enter the Giveaway drawing providing they are current subscribers to the Modavia Fashion Directory. This contest is not open to staff, models, clients, sponsors or suppliers of Modavia. There are kiosks for signup located at many fashion retailers throughout Second Life, at the Modavia Headquaters and at Bryant Park during Fashion Week.”

Here’s your ride to Bryant Park so you can check out the set up and enter the contest! And, FYI, there are still shows today, tomorrow and Thursday so make a note of the schedule while you’re there.
