Neutralized

It’s New Year’s Eve and the year is quickly coming to a close. It’s also the most popular time to think about the future and what we’d like to accomplish. How am I feeling? A bit neutral about the whole thing… I can see it as a new chapter in my life I suppose, with new things already planned for it. Then again, things I learned this past year have taught me a lot about myself and others. Maybe it’s that I am sometimes a creature of habit and am resistant to big changes. Still, I know that what’s about to come might just make this one of the best years yet.

Yes, I’ll be optimistic… change isn’t always a bad thing. It can bring success, wealth, and happiness! I know I look pouty, but I’m just contemplative… I’ll say hello to 2010 in just over 12 hours from now so I must figure out some plan to celebrate. In the meantime, thanks for reading my blog this past year and thanks to everyone who continues to make Chic Critique a quickly growing fashion feed!

So party, reminisce with friends and most importantly – get out there and  shop!

Snowy Hilltops

I love finding beautiful backgrounds for my pictures, so today’s post is named after the gorgeous scenery. I think that building a look or an outfit can start from many things, but today’s started from one simple piece: the sweater dress from AYUMI. Designed by Ayumi Shinn, this is something that can be used as a wardrobe staple, especially in a neutral color like grey. Dress it up, dress it down – a very versatile item for sure. The dress will be in the store shortly, so make a note; single colors are L$ 150 or you can get the fatpack for L$ 450.

Two great finds this week were from the LE.LOOK shopping sim which is celebrating it’s first birthday. Many people have already blogged about the items there, but I wanted to remind people that females can wear the male items (and I suppose the opposite is true as well). I love men’s hairstyles particularly, as it lets me experiment with my look even more than just limiting myself to items labeled “female”. There are items to create a full avatar for males and females, so go ahead and grab them all!

Happy Holidays!

Well I’m back from my RL vacation and have been catching up on the things I missed while I was away.  However I’ve not been feeling the greatest so it’s taking longer than expected. In any case here are a couple of cool things that came out in the recent past that I think you should know about.

The first is this uber cute and comfy sweater from KHUSH. Liess Paine makes some awesome gear, so if you haven’t been to the store yet you need to go check it out. While you are there, you can grab up this special Christmas version of the Siena sweater absolutely free under the Christmas tree in the back. There’s also a couple of other free gifts to help you dress in style this holiday season.

Also a special holiday gift is this skin from Aimesi by Mea Carnell. In this case you need to be a member of the store to get this gift, but everyone is welcomed to join and grab it up. It also comes with another makeup with festive purple-ish eyeshadow and sparkly decorations. You get this tone and also a darker, suntanned, tone.

I also have been introduced to a new store for poses, Slash Me Poses by Claire Dallin. This pose is called crisscrosses and will only set you back by L$ 50, but you can also buy packs of poses for less than they would cost individually.

So that’s my little round-up for today, hopefully I’ll be back in top shape soon!

Happy holidays everyone! *rides away on her stone reindeer*

Don’t You Step On My Blue Suede Boots

“Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh,
Honey, lay off of my shoes
Don’t you step on my Blue suede shoes.
Well you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.”

This week Bax Coen of Bax Coen Designs released her very popular prestige boots in suede – and with more color options than ever. I love all of them, so I knew I had to get at least one post in this week with them. And the perfect match to it, in my mind, was the Lolla dress in blue from SySy’s by SySy Chapman. It was originally designed for the Lollettes who are the background dancers for Lollo String, a musician SySy sponsors. It comes in this blue, black and red for L$ 250, and the clothing pieces are available on all layers. The feathery skirt is just so perfect for the holiday season, I can see a lot of fashionable ladies wearing these in the near future.

The gorgeous earrings and necklace I am wearing with this ensemble is called Winter’s Kiss and is made by Elizabeth Tinsley of Frippery. It’s amazingly all prim with no fancy cheats and is also perfect for winter and the holiday season. Available in six colors for L$ 300 each, I’m wearing the midnight color but you’re sure to find one to suit your preferences. The store is also participating in a couple of those hunts so stop in to have a look and grab yourself some great pressies if you can find them.

You might have also noticed the skin I have on, which is one of the new Liz line by Pearl Vollmar of Fior di Perle Skins & Shapes. This is the brunette tone in the blue makeup version, with there being a pale and sunkissed tone also available. Each of the single skins comes in packs with 4 skins (4 lipstick colors), a shape, prim lashes and a face light. The makeup packs cost L$ 990 each. This skin has a more mature look about the face, which in my experience you either like or don’t, so I encourage you to try the demos to see for yourself.

This will probably be my last blog post for the next little while, I’m going on vacation this weekend and won’t be back in-world until the 21st. You can leave me an IM or notecard if you need to contact me regarding the blog. Any issues regarding the feed, Chic Critique, can be directed to my business partner Seattle Barbosa.

A Plethora Of Products

The other day I did a post about two new items from the separates collection at Kunglers. Today I’m bringing you the other two items that were released at the same time by sister Barbra Kungler. The first is the Andressa blouse, which currently comes in 5 variations ranging from demure to bold. It features a prim bow, bell sleeves and intricate lace detailing on the back. It’s truly a steal at L$ 149 each. The pants are also by Barbra, and these are the Karem pants in white. Once again it comes with prim cuffs and belt, for a relaxed yet classic look. Also available in 5 colors for L$ 199 each. These will probably be used as an inventory staple from now as they can be worn with so many styles and make a great base piece for wilder accessories.

I’m also wearing one of the latest hairstyles from Simply Britnee by Britnee Hadlee. This is called Ave and is a cute updo that could be worn with both casual items or with your finest formals. You can get this hairstyle in all colors (usually around 32 per pack) for L$ 200. Also there is a sale going on at the mainstore, with many hairstyles on sale for L$ 50 for the full pack of colors. This is for a limited time so you’ll want to run over and check it out soon!

My fancy heeled sandals are from Kalnins Footwear, by Maris Kanto. Like their other recent releases, these are fully scripted for color-change, and the skin tones come with several pre-loaded options (I just clicked one til I found one that matched). These are on sale for the promotional price of L$ 450 to all members of their Kalnins Info Channel. There has been a limited number of them released, so once they are gone, they are gone for good. There’s a board with other pertinent info, so make sure to read it before you buy. As of time of publishing, there was only 90 pairs left!

Lastly you might notice my matching bangle. This is the Asian Bangle in rose quartz by Second Wave Apparel‘s Sioxie Legend, and comes with both the left and right bangle for the price of L$ 50. There are 5 other gemstone colors available, which you can see if you visit in-world or have a look at the store’s website. (Please note that the promotion for these mentioned on the site is now over).

Kickin’ It In Kunglers

Being easily distracted is bad for blogging, so when I decided to do two separate outfits for the new separates released at Kunglers, I should have taken into account that it would take me at least four times as long because I currently have the attention span of a gnat *stares at shiny objects*. Anyway, to make up for this I took the liberty of wearing a crown and calling myself Princess Kalia all day today. I’m not sure how it makes up for me taking so long to get this done, I’m just sure it does.

The first picture features one of the latest blouses called Hillany which I am wearing in the rose color. The blouse by AvaGardner Kungler comes with prim sleeves accented by bows and a ruffled collar. Available in 5 options (3 colors and 2 prints) each will only set you back L$ 149. It has a sweet and feminine feel to it, but it can also be used in a more mature way which I can appreciate.

The second picture features the Natalia pants in Cabernet, also by AvaGardner Kungler. They have belted prim cuffs, as well as a bow belt. It would match prettily with the Hillany blouses, I’m sure. The pants are available in 5 colors, each for L$ 199. If you’d like to see the other colors of the blouses and pants without visiting the store, you can always take a peek at the Kunglers’s Weblog.

Also, in both pictures I’m wearing one of the new Scandinavia skins by Gandalf Edman from GeEs Design, called Roskilde. I suppose it would have been appropriate to take pictures in a winter setting or with a parka on, but even pale girls like to get out and about. Especially when the cold has turned our cheeks a rosy shade of pink. The skins are currently on sale for the special price of L$ 499 for a single skin or L$ 1599 for all 9 of the make-up options. Also included which each skin, and in the bundle pack, is a no makeup version (with all the same body options as the make-up you’re buying), a facelight, eyebrow base and the make-up of your choice with several different options – glossy or matte lips, with or without pubic hair and enhanced cleavage. This means a total of 16 skins in each “single”, and the bundle includes the addition of a no-mod shape called Madison. This will shortly be offered for sale separately. For the moment you can see all the other options on the store’s website. If you like what you see, pick yours up quickly because soon the skins will go to the regular price of L$ 800 for the singles and L$ 2499 for the bundle.

Let Me Tempt You With This

I don’t often have a chance to wear formal dresses in real life, so I live out my inner glamazon in my second life. This means I am always happy to throw on a fancy frock, especially if it comes with tons of wearable options which allow me to have different looks depending on my mood.

One of my most recent “dealers” in party dresses and gowns is Sascha Frangilli of Sascha’s Designs. Her latest, and last release for the year of 2009, is the Temptation gown which I am wearing in turquoise. It is the biggest and most complete outfit she has released to date with so many options, my head nearly spun when I opened the box! The 22 items includes: top (cleavage), top (no cleavage), jacket, short and long system skirts,  short and long glitch pants, gloves, thin collar, shawl, prim sleeves, shoulder wrap (left and right), Big Sucker flexi skirt, Train flexi attachment, Battleship flexi skirt, Empire flexi skirt, Sculpted mini skirt (2 parts), Sleek flexi skirt, and Swooshy flexi skirt. It’s available in 13 colors, sold as singles for L$ 550 or in packs of 3 for L$ 1200. As always you can see all the options and colors on the store’s website.

Pose Like This…

The past few days have been kind of hectic in my neck of the woods, so I only just got the opportunity to take a look at some items that had been waiting to be blogged. It was a “no-brainer” that I would wear this outfit called Stolen from Phoenix Rising since my friend Shane Kirshner (of Les Girls!) is the model for the ad. The outfit by Danial Guisse costs L$ 299 for each of the six colors, including the grey version that I’m wearing. It comes with the prim shirt sleeves, collar with and without tie, as well as pant cuffs (not shown). If you want the fatpack of all six colors because you can’t make up your mind or like having a multitude of options, that will set you back L$ 999.

The wavy goodness on my head is one of the latest releases by Kavar Cleanslate of Exile. It’s called Monica, and has a wild side-swept long bang in the front, with an even longer, curly, ponytail in the back. It reminds me a lot of my hair in real life, that sort of controlled messiness that girls with wavy or curly hair often battle to achieve. Monica comes in 30 colors, and in sold in color packs of 6 for L$ 225 or you can purchase all colors for L$ 1000.

You might have noticed the funky poses I used in these pictures, but they’re not just any poses. It’s actually a pose prop called the Sci-Fi Hallway by Katey Coppola of Glitterati. I’m normally not much of a prop user, but the idea of this just blew me away. Essentially it’s like a photobox with 10 poses built in, but it gives you that hallway effect with the glowy panel in the back. You’re also able to adjust the poses with a built in menu. The Sci-Fi Hallway costs L$ 500 and I would say it is very much worth it – go get yours now!
